A SOUTHERN HORROR, 2010

Voodoo Queen

I’ve worn blisters on my heals

I got calloused hands that don’t feel

I had a whore who left me

but came back home for jasmine tea

Tattooed hands and dollar bills

Bullshit bands and love that kills

Bleeding hands and busted strings

Yet I still can’t feel a thing

come on, come on, come on, cant you see I’ve been tamed by a voodoo queen

I’ve got a restless woman in my bed

Who keeps a 10 pound hammer in our shed

Her sheets smell of sulphur and sweat

She’s got a 2 piece band she calls quartet

I once bathed the  voodoo queen

She bit my lip and got me clean

She moaned like a tambourine

my friends all love to hear her scream

come on, come on, come on, cant you see I’ve been tamed by a voodoo queen

Love reeks like liquor on my breath

Weighs on my mind like crystal meth

It crushes like a pile of debt

And yet I’m no longer  afraid of death

come on, come on, come on, cant you see I’ve been tamed by a voodoo queen
