The Circus

I do believe the circus is in town

She cries every time it comes around

She’d rather not have to believe

She’s horrified by all she sees

I do believe the circus is in town

The lions roar, but they don’t make a sound

The strong man tries, but he cannot lift a pound

The tattooed woman’s skin is plain

The smartest man has no brain

The lions roar, but they dont wear the crown

There are no lies, no slight of hand

The bearded lady shaves and she’s a man

The twenty toed man wears ten toed shoes

The clowns only wear shades of blue

Here there are no lies, no slight of hand

Underneath the big top, there are no side show freaks

Here the legless walk, the tongue-less lady speaks

The two ton man no longer eats

The cotton candy broke his teeth

here there are no sideshow freaks

They’ve seen it all, the crowd is not impressed

The mermaid died, she could not hold her breath

The heartless girl cannot be found

The acrobats fall to the ground

I do believe the circus is in town
